Wichita State Gets Dayton

(St. Louis, MO) – After all the controversy about Wichita State’s seeding in the NCAA Tournament, the course before Gregg Marshall’s team is set, and it is not an easy trek.

As a ten seed, the 20th ranked Shockers’ first dance is a Friday Midwest regional opener with seventh seeded Dayton (24-7). The Flyers finished the season with two straight losses, after winning nine consecutive games to win the Atlantic Ten regular season title.

Should Wichita State defeat the Flyers, they have a potential second round re-connection with the Kentucky Wildcats.

The Shockers (30-4) finished the season with 15 straight triumphs, including the Arch Madness Tournament title. Wichita State is becoming a fixture in the national tournament, having now qualified six straight seasons. WSU has won nine NCAA Tournament games over the last four seasons.

WSU’s Marshall and Dayton’s Archie Miller are two of the hottest coaches in college basketball. Miller was named A-10 ‘Coach of the Year’ and four players were named to various all-league honors. Marshall has won 454 games in 19 seasons and Miller (139 wins in six seasons) has guided the Flyers to four straight national tournament appearances.

Flooding, lightning strikes, etc. have cost @RacersHoops two home games. Had to play 'neutral site' tonight instead of at home and Wednesday's goes from home to away. Tough break for the Racers, and the whole area has been hit with difficulties. #FatherHarry

Murray State's scheduled home game Wednesday vs. Southern Illinois being moved to Banterra Center in Carbondale. #ValleyHoops

Gigantic game for @BradleyUMBB today in Des Moines. If they have a chance to catch @DrakeBulldogsMB, they have to win today. The Bulldogs can basically win the title today. @BustingBrackets breaks it all down. #FatherHarry https://bit.ly/3EGiVgi

Not rooting for any particular @ValleyHoops, but chaos is always fun. If things break certain ways, after today there could be a six-way tie for fifth place.
